We are thrilled to announce an exciting workshop for youth!
On June 13 from 9am-5pm at the AWRC & SASA, we invite youth to participate in CounterACT. This workshop will draw on the work of Augusto Boal’s Theatre of the Oppressed techniques (such as theatre games, image theatre and forum theatre) & other arts-based popular education approaches to collaboratively explore issues of
social justice and community transformation. It is an opportunity to use our bodies and voices to reflect on issues of gender stereotypes and hypersexualization, and to begin imagining possibilities for counter-acting these norms.
This workshop is intended for anyone interested and committed to social justice and eager to use theatre in creating change. No theatre experience required. To sign up, contact Betsy at email@example.com .
Facilitator: Natalie Abdou
CounterACT is presented by the Youth Educating and Acting on Hypersexualization project, through the Antigonish Women’s Resource Centre and Sexual Assault Services Association. It is funded by the Nova Scotia Department of Health and Wellness.
